Hi. We need to put our dog into kennels for a week over Christmas (going away). Is it too late to get him into a good kennel? Will they be put off by the fact that he's a Rottie? Anyone got any good recommendations in the Yorkshire are?
Thanks:beer:

They won't be put off no, but have you tried a home from home company that has carers looking after your dog in their own home?0

To be honest you have left it a bit late, but you may get lucky and If any kennel is are put off by him being a Rott then they are useless anyway!
Word of mouth recommendations are really the best so how about calling a local Vet, training club, LA Dog Wardens or talking to dog walkers in the park.
You could also look for a dog sitter, but they usually charge the earth for Christmas stays.
Good Luck

I think you're going to have to take any kennel space you can get at such short notice! Sorry.Do make sure you get his kennel cough vaccine done asap if you decide to go that route. I don't expect that many home from home type kennels would take him because of his age and they don't have time to socialise him with their other dogs before Christmas. the dog walker I use also home boards and will only take dogs that have met and walked together prior to boarding....she also recommends that there are a couple of day care stays just to be certain! Also she won't take destructive or young dogs or dogs that won't crate.....very fussy
but you need to book months in advance for August or Christmas......
Further to your previous thread.....I wouldn't start any training re his chewing until after his "holiday" as consistancy is vital in retraining and you will have to expect to allow time for him to settle down after the upheaval. On the plus side, if you have got him a crate send that with him as his bed (the door to be left open at all times)at the kennels with his toys and bedding.....then you're halfway there on making a good thing!0
