HDMI TV connection

I have purchased a HDMI cable and connected it to my TV, the picture is fine other than the sides of the screen are cut off, how can this be remedied.
Also is it possible to get the sound to come from the TV rather than the PC.

First of all, I imagine you're transferring the image from your pc to the tv? What graphics card do u have? (nvidia/ati)
It's called overscan what you're experiencing. Resolutions for TV and PC Monitors are slightly different. Nvidia in their control panel which is installed when you install the latest drivers, have an overscan fix application. You simply drag the arrows to the edge of the screen and it resizes it for you
Not sure about ATI though...
As for the sound, your HDMI socket on the tv should be paired with a phono input. I have 3 HDMI inputs and 1 of them is associated with the red/white phono input... You need to buy a stereo to phono cable, which would go from your pc where your speakers are, to the correct phono sockets on your tv. That way on your HDMI channel, it will receive video and sound from the phono sockets.
