I have been a moderator of a few forums and when we have offered prizes it has been a unanimous decicion that all staff including moderators are not included it creates a conflict of interest im sorry to say but it has just highlighted that boffer have no interest in giving the customer good and honest service.
just to clear something up.. yes i won the tshirt comp ... which was USER VOTED it was the members choice! and at the time i won i was not staff or associated as staff in any way i was a normal member.
Yes i am now a mod as of a couple of days ago but that has no effect at all on a competition run a few weeks ago
everyone has a equal chance of winning competitions and thats just the way it is no favourtism involved0 -

And as for their so could competitions seems to me like it is always won by moderators and not actual members. This leads me to believe the moderators are in actual fact staff and not the so could members they lead us to think.
I for one will not be back on that site and would urge others to proceed with caution also, they are about to have another sell off tomorrow, so I would say if your looking for presents save your money and buy elsewhere as it may not get delivered in time and if its broken like many of my items have been there is no way they can resolve this before Christmas.
i got a projector in my boc in the last selloff that is over £1000 on amazon & i'm not a mod nor do i intend to become one.... can understand some people have had problems but i know in the boc in the 1st selloff the people who won the tv's weren't mods... Happy Bargain Hunting!! :beer:0 -

Its rather suspicious chain of events , members choice mmm where were the full run down of votes given to each entrant shown ? instead just naming the winners who then become moderators. Its a very niave notion to think there is no favortisim in this competition of course there is, if you are a well known member of a site people will vote for you over a newbie simple as. Im certainly going to stay well clear of Bofffer from now on.0 -

well everything about this post is wrong..
firstly a percentage of votes was provided the entire time the competition was running so it was clear who the front runners were.
secondly the entries were anonomous no names attached to the entries so most people were unaware who they were voting for simply the design.
Thirdly the part which everyone seems to not understand i was not a mod when i did the tshirt comp i was simply a everyday member, i have since become a wellknown and would like to think well liked member in the forums and volunteered my services as a mod, no comp has any reflection on this it was done weeks ago when i wasnt much more than a 'newbie' myself.
People are free to make there own decisions bout boffer but this whole thread is ridiculous since its based on false accusations from bitter people0 -

The thread is not ridiculous, my situation is nothing to do with being bitter. Boffer took my money, sat on it then decided they didn't have stock. Couldn't explain despite the situation and proof given and then 2 days later emailed all members advertising the same item.
The story is much longer, but I have screen prints of everything I have said, so I can back up my claims.
False advertising, breach of contract, awful service... need I go on?
I'm not bitter on anything, I'm not even banned myself. I've managed to secure another one from ebuyer, all being well.
It's just that Boffer were unhelful, and I do wonder if I hadn't asked how long I would have had to wait before they admitted not having the stock they advertised._BBC_consumer_advice wrote:
If a price has been agreed between the salesperson and myself, can they change their minds?
If a price has been agreed between the sales person/manager and myself on a specific item (electrical goods), does he have the right to refuse to hand over the goods, which have already been paid for, if he then realises a mistake has been made on the price? ID, Enfield

If you'd already paid for the item then you had a contract with the shop to buy the item at that price.
As the contract had already been made, it was too late for the shop to alter the terms of the contract and you're entitled to the goods you've bought.
It would've been different if you hadn't paid for the goods when the shop discovered the error in the price. No firm contract would have been made yet to buy them at the price advertised and the shop would have been free to change the price.
Not quite the same, but relevant I feel. All up to date and happy!0 -

Bitter no , sensible yes Boffer have shown themselves to be incompetant and dishonest in their service. If you think that its acceptable to silence disatisfied customers by banning their accounts (there has been more than one instance on this), secondly taking money then refusing to refund it back which is illegal and can be consituted as theft, ananswered tickets, slow delivery, poor customer service, false advertising, selling counterfeit goods as in the swiss army knife card highlighted in this thread, problems regarding competitions. This is not acceptable and to support a company that conducts itself in such a way is quite frankly ludicrous. Votes can also be doctored with site staff voting for their favorites, nothing is trully fair in this day and age just look at all these tv phonelines and the problems surrounding that, there is something seriously wrong here and people should be asking questions and holding people to account.0
