Putting VHS and 8mm onto DVD (service)

Hi.

over the years i have made family holiday videos on VHS and 8mm camcorder tapes. Now, i do not pocess a vhs recorder or a camcorder anymore so we cannot view these movies.

What im looking for is a online service where i can send my tapes and they will put them onto DVD for you.

Anyone know any shops or services on the net that can do this for me.

Thanks

  • How weird I see this today.

I have an old tv/video combi and a dvd recorded. Last night I thought all I had to do was put a video on and record onto the hard drive of the DVD player and then onto a disk. No luck.

Sorry for the hijack. Hopefully someone will be along to help you soon.

In the absence of any other reply...

My dad has just got some old film (his dad's!) converted to DVD. I don't know what size it was, but some of it goes back to the 30s so I'm sure the shop must be able to do pretty much everything!

It's in London but I don't know if they do a postal service. To be honest I'd be nervous of doing that. If the film gets lost or damaged in transit - on the way there...

If you're interested post back and I'll find the name of the shop (and website presumably). He was really happy with them. He asked for their 'plain vanilla' service (ie they won't tidy up the film) but they phoned him up to say some of it was back to front, would he like them to turn it round? At no extra charge. (There was only one section.)

Edit: Sorry, just realised you were talking about video tape. Well I'm sure this shop will do that as well :-\

Alternatively, look on your local freecycle for someone giving away a suitable player. Or ask for one. You never know!
