What gets me about these one-day auctions is to do with the people that hire out the venues, be it village halls or hotels. They don't seem to mind they are party to these cons. They are just content to take the money. It's the same with those fake modelling and extras' agencies who demand £150 for a photo-shoot, promise immediate work and then don't deliver. I know that BBC Three Counties Radio consumer programme has contacted a couple of hotels over this matter but have been told by them that they are happy to take the bookings. Could they be prosecuted for aiding and abetting a crime?
What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?
  • They are in Nottingham today at the gateway hotel 3:30PM & 7PM.
I was going to attend until I decided to check them out on the net and came across this site. Thanks to all who have posted on this board, I have saved money by not going, and I urge other people to listen to those who have attended these so called 'stock clearence sales'.

    Thanks again to all.

P.S did I mention they are in Nottingham today 26th June 06 at the gateway hotel, 3:30PM & 7PM. Just in case you wish to have a chat with them ;)

    UPDATE.
Maybe they wont be attending the gateway hotel after all.
I have just contacted the gateway hotel, and was informed that they have contacted trading standards about these people, but trading standards did not get back in touch with them. After speaking to the receptionist and telling her about this site and the other sites on the net, she informed me that she will be speaking to the hotel manager.
So hopefully the people who are going to attend dont get taken for a ride.

    Thanks again to you all.

Glad posting this helped warn others. Anyone can report them to Trading Standards either on the phone or on the web, means if you get a leaflet on a Sunday, which seems to be their way of working, you can contact them straight away so they're aware of them being there Monday first thing.

    that'l learn him
  • Dickinsons (Sales & Auctions) will be at the
    Apollo Hotel Edgbaston Birmingham 0121 455 0271

They put a leaflet through my door - I had a feeling they were bogus so I checked the web and came here.. one of my favourite sites!

I've told trading standards on the rip off tip off page and I phoned the hotel - who said that the sale will go ahead tomorrow and they won;t stop it - as they've paid for the service etc.. I asked if the manager might have a conscience to try and stop it and he wasn't interested.

Why not try phoning too? We might be able to get the manager to stop it ?

I'll try phoning trading standards now...

Trading Standards office was shut.. so I just got off the phone to Crimestoppers and they're going to inform the local police. I gave them the details of the company directors etc as posted earlier.. Hopefully this will get sorted
