What is the purpose of this post?

It's claimed that McAfee & Norton are better than any free software. I used to use Norton, and my PC ran so slow, now I use AVG, never had a problem with viruses or performance, and judging by this review (http://anti-virus-software-review.toptenreviews.com/) look where AVG is compared with Norton & McAfee.

    Nuff said I think.

You may want to go to AVGs website and see what ISN'T included in the free version. Certainly the lack of realtime webpage scanning and lack of scanning of downloads is a big issue and with some paths of infection now being via IM, the lack of IM scanning isn't clever either.
  • May I echo what a rubbish initial OP! Laughable. Anyway - my opinion - have a read of the following thread for a discussion of Anti-Virus software. To summarise I'd say my choice for a free AV is Avira AntiVir.

My choice for a paid AV would either be ESET NOD32 or Kaspersky with, for me, NOD32 winning.

Notice my disagreement was a little more subtle ;) Try to be nice! It is meant to be a friendly board isn't it? :p
