Creating Recovery Disks

 I have a HP pavillion 7916 pc which I have had for a number of years which I am giving away next week.

I wanted to wipe the hard drives before doing so and so I guess I will need to reinstall a copy of XP which came with the PC.

I do beleive that I need to make a copy of a set of recovery disks which I am led to beleive are stored on a partition on my hard drive as no O S disks were supplied with the PC when new.

From various sites I am told that I need to click on start then all programs and then Hewlett Packard then create recovery disk in order to create these disks. For some reason when I click on start, all programs....there is no Hewlett Packard to click on to to make these disks.

Is there another way of creating these disks as the PC is due to go next week and I wish to clean it up and reinstall XP home on it before it goes.

I used to be indecisive, but now I'm not sure!

You may be able to recover the factory install straight from the recovery partition, without the need for discs. Unfortunately, I have no experience with HPs, so cannot enlighten you any more than that.

EDIT: This might be of help.
