Bearings gone on my 18 month old washing machine

I have been told it will cost £80 to repair it as it's Tricity Bendix (meant to be harder to repair) & it only cost about £150 so I don't know if it's worth it.

Any thoughts?

Thanks, Nickinoo

whatever you decide to do dont overload it again when its fixed / replaced
  • Hi
Im sure I saw something on this site saying how long a washer should work ie. sale of goods/fit for purpose etc & Im sure its lot longer than 18 months.

Id be inclined to either go back to shop where you purchased it or even call TB & ask them if their products should last longer. Im sure they'll fight their corner & say their products are superior etc... but whether or not theyll fix it under sale of goods act? as its between you & the shop. Worth a try.

    Regards

What makes you think I overloaded it in the 1st place, ha, ha?! Actually the annoying thing is I did at 1st & then I started being good & washing smaller loads but of course that has meant more washes-can't win!

  • SOGA will cover items for up to 6 years. Make sure you know your facts when you visit the shop. Remember your contract is with the shop and not the manufacturer.

I recently returned an 18month old DVD/VCR combo made by Toshiba to the shop. At first he didn't wan't to know. I then mentioned "Sale of goods", "fit for purpose" and "reasonable time" and walked away with a new machine.

Go for it, you have nothing to loose. Be firm at all times.

I agree - go for it. Why should the shop have your money and you a dud machine. EU regulations mean things should last for a min of 2 years and be fit for purpose - this is not.

Never mention theo verloading - and dont buy a TB machine again - everyone I know has had loads of problems with them before ditching them.....

    cheers
