newcastle races

hiyas any info would be of great help pls..

im tryin to plan a surprise 30th b/day treat for me b/f to newcastle races and stayin over 1 night in newcastle

would i be beter gettin premier tickets for the races?

any ideas for accommodation in the city centre?
according to the https://www.newcastle-racecourse.co.uk the course is 3 miles from the city centre and racedays a FREE Hopper bus service runs between the Regent Centre and Four Lane Ends Metro Stations to Newcastle Racecourse.

A hotel near these places would be ideal or we would have to get a taxi to and from the course,,, cost????

then i have to think of the hotel being nightlife in newcastle and also check in times.... the 1st race starts at 2.05 so would want to be there for then but would need to check into hotel 1st so i wont have to worry about driving etc...

sorry if its all a jumble,, hope you can help

thanx

There are two hotels right next to the racecourse. One is a Marriot and the other is a Travelodge/Premier Inn type place. You could walk to the racecourse from either of these. If you want to stay in the town centre and get the metro to Regent Centre - that too is very easy. The hotels near the racecourse are also quite near a highstreet where there are pubs and restaurants. Not jumping and lively like the Newcastle City Centre but a few pubs and restaurants. Hope this helps a little.

If you're looking for a hotel with access to lots of bars and restauraunts try Osborne Road in Jesmond.

There are two metro stations in Jesmond which can take you to Regents Park and Four Lane Ends (Regents Park is closest to the racecourse, about 3 stops I think from Jesmond).
  • how much would it be in a taxi pls to the city centre nightlife from the hotels that are near the racecourse?

    thanx x

I would estimate £8-10 pounds, city centre is only about 10-15 mins away. Cheaper option is to get a taxi to the metro station - probably about £4.

The Mariott at Gosforth Park is next door to the race course so I would assume that they have many guests requesting an early check in. If they can't let you check in early I would request the use of their leisure facilities to change clothes etc. and I would have thought they would have a facility for leaving luggage there. I know on certain race meetings they do a racing package. Don't know what it costs or what it includes.

Most hotels will let you leave your luggage in a safe room if you arrive before the scheduled check-in time. You can then pick them up later and check-in properly. Best bet is to ring the hotel and check that they do this before you book.

Have done this on numerous occassions when going to Manchester to watch England.
