Hi I use Incredimail, I know you will all moan but it has been great, no really.
I have used it without problem for a long time now but I just upgraded to Norton Internet Security 2005 and now it gives me problems. I receive emails ok but I cannot send. They stay in the Outbox. I have read all the help on the Symantec site and uninstalled and re-installed etc, but nothing helps.
I have set up Norton to allow all Incredimail features as per the Symantec site and checked them, they are all there as accepted things to allow. I have pinpointed what causes the problem it is CCAPP.exe which is apparantly a file that it would be unwise to stop from working, as it is a major part of Norton.
You are denied access to shut it down using the task manager but I simply used Selective start up to stop CCAPP.exe starting, and Incredimail worked fine. You then click the Norton Icon and if you look in the task manager, CCAPP.exe has started and the problem is back.
I have looked but cannot find a way to progress, surely if CCAPP.exe is the problem and it is part of Norton, you must be able to alter a setting to allow Incredimail to send happily.
Incidently I have deactivated Nortons firewall, (although I did try it with it on to see if it helped), because I have a Belkin router with a built in firewall.
I really would appreciate some help if anyone can suggest anything.

there have been recent problems with Nortons email scanner since late December, i take it your definitions for it are up to date ??
Norton is extremely picky when it comes to installing (and even a LOT worse) when it comes to UNinstalling.
So begin with uninstalling Norton completely. Now reboot your PC (as Norton probably already told you).
After reboot, in Explorer do a search for both Symantec and Norton. Delete any directories with those names.
You now need to shut down every program in your Systemtray first. Then check in MSconfig if any other programs might be running that do not show up in Systemtray and shut those down too.
Re-install NIS2004. If you can, do an install of NAV by itself first.
Check if your Outlook and Incredimail still work.
If so, install the Firewall and check again.Ex forum ambassador

if the above does not work then either dump nortons or/and Incredimail
Use AVF free and Sygate or Kerio insteadEx forum ambassador

Though incredimail is fun to use, I had quite a lot of trouble with it and in the end I uninstalled it.0

Have you e-mailed Incredimail for help, they usually come back in a day or so.
They usually recommend reinstalling the program(full build not just the upgrade)
Current build is 2185.
A friend had a similar problem with Incredimail and NIS, we ended up downloading a utility from Symantec which reset all the default values in the firewall, which fixed it.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -

I would like to try everything before another reinstall as that is a pain, but as for the new build I dont like it much and I see a lot of complaining about it because the new build takes away your junk folder unless you are willing to pay for it, and I use that quite a lot as I find it quite handy for sorting my junk mail. When I installed it, I did a restore to get back to my original which worked thankfully, I thought I would be stuck with the new one, but new or old they both had the same problem with Norton.
I fancy trying any downloads with Symantec first but what was the download to use?0 -
I think I spotted something new when I leave my Incredimail in this connecting situation, not sending, and come back an hour later for example the emails have gone/been sent. This has happened more than once now. But it is not simply that they are taking a long time because I have sat working on the PC for nearly an hour and an ordinary text email has not left the outbox even though connecting has been up the whole time.
I have already, previously turned off email scanning for email sending in Norton with no apparent result.
Does this give anyone any ideas what is wrong?
