I am trying to terminate my mobile contract. I e-mailed CPW as I couldn't find an address on the website to which to write, I give my 30 days notice from 8 December 2008 to terminate my mobile contract. They e-mail me back to say I have to ring a 0870 number to request a Disconnection Reference Number and then send a letter quoting this number but give no address to send it to. I ring the 0870 number to request said DRN to be told I can't request it today as it will cost me more money as it will kick in the disconnection before the 30 day notice period, this is despite the fact they won't accept disconnection requests without a written letter with the DRN. I explain I need it (as per their e-mail) so I can send a letter by recorded delivery to reach them by Monday for my month's notice to terminate on 8 January. They refuse to give me the DRN or the address to write to (Why the secrecy? Don't know what thats all about) and tell me to ring back tomorrow, then inform me that they're shut tomorrow
Having had problems in the past with CPW to the point that I will never deal with them again I am frustrated beyond belief. The guy said they will backdate the 30 day notice even if they receive the letter after Monday so that my contract will end on 8 January but I don't believe them. This is after adding on two months onto my contract to take into account early upgrades (which they gave me and didn't explain weren't on account of being a loyal customer) even though the previous contracts were terminated and no minutes etc were allowed to be carried over  .
Never again will I use them, I'm beginning to think I'm going to have to gear myself up to a battle like I had with Setanta:eek:

I have had a running battle with this bunch for the last 18 months. They just ignore any written communication - even recorded delivery - presumably in the hope that you will go away. If you 'phone them up, you just get - LIES !
I have finally run out of patience with them. I have told them (twice, recorded delivery), (Mr Charles Dunstone in fact), that I am taking action in the small claims Court to recover my losses. £1300 !
Mr Dunstone of course has not bothered to reply - see him in Court !0 -
I went mental with this lot!
I'll keep it as short as I can:
We wanted to serve the 30 day notice a the end of our contract. Rang up, got the same "DRN" number lark.
They closed one mobile account but left my wife's open, still generating bills (both mobiles were on the same contract).
We had final demand notices (which included a £5.88 administration charge - read on)
We had debt collectors letters.
Then we were threatened by a debt collector (by letter) that they would "soon be round to collect the monies owed".
I ended up writing to Charles Dunstone complaining and venting my utter disgust.
I also said that, since they can add a £5.88 admin charge, so can I. 7 phonecalls and 3 letters would therefore be £58.80. And I would like that cheque by return post.
a few days later the apology arrived - complete with the cheque for £58.80
Start to finish was 18 months.
Give them hell!Debt Free Determined for 2008 :j0 -
