Options
Can anyoine give me any feedback on experiences buying from savastore.
I have seen the below spec for a TinyPrices/Aries pc - although from the spec it looks like a carrera pc???

It's just under £500 and seems like a good spec for the money. Anyone know if they use decent componensts? Would i beb better shopping elsewhere?

Sounds like an ok spec. But bear in mind there is no operating system so that's another 50-80 quid on top.

If you really want a bargain then check out https://www.morgancomputers.co.uk Their Famous Brand section has some amazing bargains. They have one at the moment with similar spec for £375! I always buy my computers here simply because the price and service are second to none!

Its always worth a look if nothing else.

Savastore are great as long a nothing goes wrong (ie faulty, wrong item etc...). Their customer support isn't the best for getting issues resolved, in fact even contacting them can take a while from my experiences.

Any package deal will generally not use the best components, or best for their price. In that spec, I'd personally go for a lower processor to get more ram. An equivalent self built system would be something like:

    AMD643500+ - £155
    MSI K8N Neo4 - £65
    1gb PC3200 Ram - £62
    nVidia GeForce 6600 - £70

Antec Sonata Case with 450W PSU - £78
    200gb Seagate SATA Hard Drive - £69
    LG DVD-Writer x16 - £30

You'd miss out on a few things like floppy drive (£5) and the tv card (£?) but every other component apart from the cpu would be better (hard drive is questionable). The system would also be more balanced, you often find in package deals they throw a huge processor in there to wow the buyer, but then reduce the ram and graphics.

I bought a laptop off of them once, had to file a claim with the small claims court. Their customer care is non-existent.

Here are are few of other people thoughts....but IMO STAY AWAY! :(

I bought a pc and it turned up before xmas and i still havent used it.

I tried to cancel it on line every day since i orderd it and was waiting for email confirmation. NOTHING NOTHING NOTHING

It turned up at a neighbour house with out me even knowing it had arrived as no calling card was left. I sat in allday for it!

I got it the following night when the naighbour came round and wonderd why i never came round for it.

wireless keyboard and mouse missing and xp disk damaged.

tried to phone day after day after day and been left on hold for well over 1hr each time and just had to give up as the call wasnt free.

sent emails to every department explaining and NOTHING, NO REPLY.

Had to contact trading standerds for advice and forwarded the advice on to them and gues what i had a reply a week later.

enough of that, my advice KEEP WELL AWAY ITS NOT WORTH SAVING THAT FEW QUID...

Savastore AKA Watford Electronics might be cheap but if you are buying a PC don't. Their quality control is non-existant so is customer support (when you finally get it and it doesn't work). The only things Savastore are OK for are small individual components that just require picking off a shelf and putting in the post. Chances are you will get what you asked for and it will be OK because Savastore staff haven't taken it out of the box. I used them for a while until I had to send something back - what a nightmare. Just google for savastore or watford electronics !! Not recommended.

Yeah I totally agree. They are very much a "box pusher". Basically good for buying a new keyboard (my Apple Wireless Pro :)) or a printer etc... where things are less likely to go wrong. Quick service and cheap, but lacking customer service.
