Machine has to go back to the shop this week and although it is a newish system, I have put a whole load of information (names/addresses/telephone numbers/e-mail addresses) on Outlook in my "contacts".
I am concerned that this will be lost if they end up re-building the machine as they have said they might.
How do I back it up?

I would recommend backing up using at least two methods on to say cd.
Method 1: http://www.argentuma.com/backup/outlook-backup.html
Method 2: http://www.backsettings.com/backup-outlook.html (demo *should* be ok*)
Method 3: From Outlook, click the contacts and go to FIle> Import & Export and "export to file" followed by "CSV Windows".
If its emails you need to back up, make a copy of any pst files on your pc.0 -

And to save email accounts just go into Outlook Express, Tools Accounts
highlight the account then Export, Internet Favourites, Open Internet Explorer
File Import-Export.0
