Zonealarm free upgrade and avast conflict query

I got a window from zonealarm free last night for a new update so I updated then a window came up from Avast saying there was a conflict between zonealarm and avast and that they were working with zonealarm to put it right.

I cant remember what it was exactly about it was late and I thought I'd save the links and sort it out today but the links havent saved in my favorites for some mad reason. It said click yes or no to some webthing webshield and only click yes if I had had no problems but as I didnt know if I had problems as I had only just upgraded so I thought best be on the safe side and do what they advised as they were telling me there was a conflict. When I did what they suggested it gave a link to a guide of how to change something so I would then use a proxy because of this problem.

But as the links havent saved and I cant rember exactly what I have changed within either zone alarm or avast I dont know if the comp is safe or not as I did not set the proxy up as last night as I wanted to look into it today. Does anyone else know anything about this issue with the new zonealarm update?

I also got a window from one of them saying do I want to use a phishing filter or not how would I change that setting if I wanted to?
Thanx

You should only be running ONE firewall.
I ran ZA for over a year but it caused a lot of problems including slow boot up.
I ditched it a couple of months ago and installed Comodo, which is an anti virus plus firewall and it`s free.

I am only running one firewall, avast is an antivirus. Never had any issues before till this last zonealarm update

Out the two I would guess it`s ZA causing an issue with Avast.
    I would ditch it.

Doesn't help solve your problem, but I am running Zonealarm and Avast at the moment and have no issues.
Edit. Just got the messge re. update available for Zonealarm, looking at Zonealarm Forum people are having problems with the update, so I will hold fire for now.
If you google "zonealarm version 8 problems" you will see all sorts of issues, people recommend uninstall and try to go back to previous version.

Thanx only thing is I'm not sure if whatever I ticked last night changed anything to make it that I'm less covered so even if I did go back to a previous version of zone alarm my settings for avast might still be altered
    Thanx

I had ZA and had been using it for years until it stopped me doing things like updating antivirus software, and causing problems, so I ditched it and now use PC tools firewall plus

Don't think Avast will be the problem as I assume like mine it just keeps updating automatically, whereas Zonealarm says update available and you have to manually accept it.
Think I would uninstall zonealarm and install the old version 7 here

Also see post on other forum, Zonealarm did turn off auto update to version 8

Ditch it and use pctools firewall instead...or Comodo, but that works in a very different way to Zone Alarm so won't be as familiar to you.
