Post Office Phones £50 off but will it take 0844

Is there a catch to this offer I wonder?
ALSO will cleverates 0844 number work with a Post office line - their help line told me just now that during the day this dialing this number will cost me 3.95p - so much for 1p a minute

0844 numbers will be charged at between 1p to 5p depending on charging rate.Only supplier that charges more to call them is OneTel who charge 10% more.So yes a 1p 0844 number would be charged at 1p but a min call charge will apply for short calls.However dont worry to much about the 1p a minute landline to mobile promo its a loss leader and will finish soon.

Seems that even with the £50 off it is not worth losing the ability to dial the 18185 numbers or the cleverates 0844 721 2525 (while it lasts!)
So sorry another query - I just noticed that BT have charged me .042p for all my 0844 connections which last between 35 seconds to 2 mins 40. Why?

This 4.2p is the minimum call charge exc vat ,that BT apply when calling chargeable numbers.
