I am hoping someone can help before I launch my laptop for it's first flying lesson!
I am using Vista (not that I think that's important) - However!!!
Two nights ago my Internet Explorer stopped working, along with my msn messenger.
Initially I was getting the message 'There is a problem with this installation. Windows Live Suite was not installed' - code 0x8000ffff Catastrophic Failure.
Well I have tried to do a system restore picking a date before that day and removed any updates that were done that day just in case it was one of those.
That didn't seem to work. I have Google Chrome on my pooter so going through that I checked on the Microsoft computer - I followed the instructions of what to do, still it didn't work.
I then uninstalled IE off the pooter and reinstalled it. I even took it off and tried to install IE9 (having paid for two text messages to be sent through) and that failed. They resent my code and it had to be used in 24 hours, but that didn't work either.
Last night messenger wasn't working either - it was logging on (it is set to start on logging in ), and it would work then after about 3 seconds it would put a notice on that it had to close!
I didn't get any recovery discs with my pooter either - so I couldn't do a restore like that!
As I said, I am on t'internet through Chrome but I want to get it back up and running....
If there is anyone that could help I would really appreciate some help. I just fee like I'm going mad!!!
Thank you

I think I know what you're problem is... I had this the other week.
Have you recently upgraded to the new Beta of Live Messenger? I had the same error message as you, which happened when my Live Messenger installation got messed up. I just removed Live Messenger then re-installed it and everything was hunky dorey.
Be advised that if you have the new Beta version, you will have to uninstall it by going to Control Panel > Windows Update > View Update History, then find "Windows Live Messenger". Then go to Control Panel > Programs and Features and make sure all the Windows Live programs are removed before you re-install it.
Also, you said you had downloaded IE9... Are you in the future?
If you can smile when things go wrong, you have someone in mind to blame.
