free movie editing prog??

My youngest had her school christmas performance earlier in the week, taped it on camera and have downloaded it onto comp using quicktime but because it lasted 2 and a half minutes its too long to upload onto facebook and too big to attach to emails to send to people.

Is there a free editing prog i can use to shorten the vid so i can share it with everyone else???

I dont have quicktime pro and dont want to upgrade for £40 just to edit one vid.

Are you using Windoze XP and is it patched up to date with service pack 2 and optionally 3?

If so you will have a free basic video editor built in.Windows Movie Maker. You may have to re-capture your footage in Movie Maker as I don't think it will work with Quicktime .mov files well it is a microsoft program and it's free. It has basic storyboard and timeline editing and is non too shabby. Just go to start menu\all programs\accessories and scroll down to movie maker.

Don't you have Windows Movie Maker? Check your Programs > Accessories folder, should do what you need.

If you wish to send it via email, upload it to yousendit or similar and then send the link produced via email.

That way anyone who wants to watch the video can do so by clicking on the link to download.

Other options include uploading to one of the myriad of video hosting websites.

Upload it onto YouTube.

Quicktime Pro is £20.

yes i do have windows movie maker but it wouldnt let me open it with the file i have, quicktime seems to have overridden everything i have on here!!!!

Did it save it as a *.mov file by any chance?

Windows Movie maker can't read *.mov files. You'll need to convert it to an MPG file.
