We have a satellite connection only (no antennae)We are looking to buy a 5520 model, but on reading the blurb it seems to suggest that we couldn't use timed recording or live pause. Has anyone experience with this situation please?

Just been on the Philips website looking at the specs of the 5520. I'm assuming you are using a Sky box or Freesat or something?
You will be able to use the time record and live pause features. What will happen is whenever you press the pause button, it starts recording the input signal you are watching onto the internal hard drive. This doesn't matter whether it is from a scart lead or coaxial input.
Hope this helps
