DV Camcorder - still images and any advice sites about?

Options
Hi all,

I have a Panasonic NV-GS10 DV Camcorder. I can download and edit the footage with Microsoft Movie Maker no problem.

I have taken lots of stills while on holiday but can't get them off, even worse they sit in the middle of all my footage and will take ages to edit out.

Anyone know how I can get the stills off my DV tape. I understand "Motion DV-Studio" will do the job but my camcorder did not come with a disk. Is there any other software that will also do the trick?

Also any good websites I can read on DV camcorders?

Thanks Tony

thats the downside of a camera without a capture card, you have no choice but to edit them out that I persoanlly know of.

I guess I will have to live with that.

Do you know what software I can use to get all the pictures off the camcorder?

    Thanks Tony

I'd suggest something like adobe premier, or sony vagas, although they are expensive bits of software, I think someone else was asking the question about video edit from a camcorder and some people listed a range of software.

Thanks Meep I might have to download a trial to see if they do this as neither say they can import pictures from tape and its only this I need it for.

    Thanks Tony

yeah they are mainly video editors, but u can cut and slice the video, so u could cut out the stills and rejoin them.

You could try ringing Panasonic and asking if they can send you the software if you explain, try them on 08701 505610.

Thanks for that, still a bit confused though they said the best way for me to get the stills off is the take a snapshot with Microsoft Movie Maker. I knew I could do this but I thought that was even lower quality as its only one frame and not the whole image that had been recorded to tape.
