Acer LCD TV

Hi all,

I have an Acer Lcd TV, Model number: AT3201W.

It turns on ok but after a little while the screen goes off leaving the sound on. It goes to a black screen not a blue one.

A man at the repair shop is unable to diagnose the problem. He suggested it maybe something to with the circuit board and the way the chips are put together. Can anyone recommend maybe a place that will be able to help. The TV is about 2yrs old. The exact same problem happened to my partners workmate. They were given the Tv as incentive prizes at work. But my partner and work mate have lost touch so unable to find out the outcome of their Tv. Any thiughts greatly appreciated.

    I have found we can get the picture back if we turn off the stand by button then turn it on again. Really strange. Going to see if the picture stays with a dvd playing. Back soon to report on what happens.

    ey up smashed :D could be a temperature-related intermittent fault...make sure you report back after the dvd trial,see what happened...in the meantime, I'll see if I can dig anything up..

    ey up again smashed...after a bit of frantig gooling, it appears that these Acers can suffer from problems switching on properly using the remote, so this could be linked if you are experiencingand why better after off/on...also, there is mention of the set being generally better after a software upgrade....if I find any more I'll let you know:)

    also, check exactly how old the set is...it looks like it came with a 2 yr manufacturer's rtb warranty...might be worth calling acer :confused:

    Hi gunjack my lovely. Thank you so much for that. Yes the tv does work ok with a DVD. The picture went again last night but then if we pressed the reset button at the back i think thats what it is. I know i am useless. LOL.

    The picture came back after pressing that button then the standby button. Sadly out of warranty. Just my luck.

    might be worth contacting acer direct about the software upgrade then, smashed.....even if they can confirm or not that your set needs it, it's a step along the way...also, they may be able to recommend a reasonably-local authorised repairer....got to be worth a go :)
