M&S 20% sale day - beware problems online

I couldn't work out what was going on with the delivery options when placing my online order today, so I called the helpline.

I was informed that that M&S have suspended their standard delivery option today, so you can only opt for 'nominated day' delivery, the earliest available being 5th January.

I was assured that this is just a precautionary measure after problems with the last sale day, and that once all todays' orders are processed, earlier delivery dates would be calculated (which will be in time for Christmas) and details of these emailed to customers who have placed an order.

I thought I'd take a punt but am going to have to think about contingencies as the order consists of about 60% of my entire christmas shopping for this year.

Has anyone else used the site today (Thursday - 20% off day) and had similar/differing experiences??

the M+S website say parcels dispatched 2nd Dec , delivery estimate 1st Dec ??????????

I placed 2 orders just after midnight and both say dispatching soon and placed another 2 a couple of hours and they are saying approx. delivery 8-9th December.

Beware also that prices on website are mysteriously increasing. Put 3 for 2 Cinnamon etc candles in shopping basket just after midnight last night - 20% off deal had just started (£4 each was the pre reduction price) along with gold wreath (£6.50). Went to add third 3 for 2 "freebie" (and various other items) this morning and candles are now £5 each and wreath £9.50!

Not going to bother as I too am still waiting for my stuff from 2 weeks ago. Money out of my account didn't include the 20% off or the free delivery. I had to call them yesterday to have it applied. Supposed to be here on the 2nd but tracking shows it has been sitting in Aberdeen since the second.
Somehow I am not surprised . I order online all the time and M&S for me have consitently been the worst for non delivery. When you order you get an estimate and then usually on the first day they could deliver I get an email to say delivery will be from another date. Find that if I have bras in the order it is consistently late however if there are no bras delivery is OK.
Guess what is in this parcel!!!

My order from 8.30 this morning has completely dissapeared I had to phone them because I had not realised that I needed to put a code in. They sorted it out on the phone and gave me a new total for the order that was at 8.45am. Theorderastill showing on my account this afternoon for delivery between 8th - 9th December now it shows I have no recent or outstanding orders. I have emailed them with my order no. and await their reply.

I thought I would be smart - put all the goods in my basket last night as I knew I wouldn't have much time tonight. Logged in 10 mins ago only to be advised none of the goods were available and had been removed from my basket. So I started over- and 6 of 7 items WERE available and the order went through. Delivery date 8/10 December - I'll be amazed if it arrives then. I can't work out the discount - seems a little more than 20% to me however I'm not complaining. I'm just not sure it will go as smoothly as I would hope.

If you look on the page for items you ordered it says whether they can be dispatched before Christmas or not. Perhaps one of the items can't be dispatched before Christmas so its holding the whole order up.

My order from the last sale started arriving yesterday. They seperated it so another item arrived today and one more item is arriving seperately sometime soon I assume. It might have been useful if they'd actually e-mailed to tell me. All I got was half my order, no indication on the statement of how much I had been charged or whether half my order had been cancelled or was being shipped seperately.

P.s, I have complained to M&S about these issues. I'm not just venting on here.
