Sainsbury's Credit Card

Options
Does anybody know if Sainsbury's have been overwhelmed by applications for their credit card?
I applied online 2 weeks ago and haven't even had a notification e-mail? ???

  • They almost certainly have. Its been nearly 4 weeks since I applied on-line. Got a phone call 2 weeks ago to ask about my application, they even asked me what password I used when I applied!!! Mmmmm....good security there.

They asked for further proof of address so sent that off.
Eventually received my utility bill back yesterday with an accompanying letter saying their financial team would be contacting me in 7-10 days.

Er....lets see....taking a guess.....its gonna be about 8-9 weeks in all before I get the plastic (that is if it doesnt get stolen in transit to buy expensive hi-fi I know nothing about!!!)

  • Looks like it's going to be the same problem with us. We applied by phone and were sent out the form to tell us we'd been accepted, and also to fill it it and return, which we did the very same day.

We rang them today (and it has to be said their CS people are surly and unhelpful) asking if the card had/was just about to be sent out. Though they were able to tell us that they had received our signed form they 'did not have that information' re its expected arrival, other than a robotic 'it'll take 7 - 10 days'(as it states on their bumph).

One assumes that approved applications have to go somewhere, as in to a specific department, but they 'do not have that information' which means they can't be bothered to tell us who to contact. Or do they think all approved applications disappear into some amorphous cloud, from where they are spat out at random intervals?

We'd probably receive them more quickly if that was the case. ;)

As we only really want the card for Christmas purchases, it looks like we may have wasted our time.

Anyone know of a 0% on purchases CC that gets accepted and is issued at the speed of light? ::)

As posted on HSBC threads -- Go into an HSBC branch and apply for their 0%-for-9-months card. My wife applied in-branch on Wednesday & it arrived in the mail on Friday!!! Do NOT apply on-line or by phone since that seems to get nowhere. Good luck!

I applied on line on last Tuesday, get form to sign last Friday. In the form it said the card should arrive in 10 days. I think the speed is not slow.
  • I started applying for stoozing cards in October/November this year. Sainsburys was the quickest card I managed to get - applied on-line, got the forms and sent them back and got the card at the end of the week.
