What wedding ring metal should I go for, white gold, platinum or palladium? I have a WG ER, so I think plat may tarnish the WG, also I cant really afford plat – but palladium sounds really obscure, some scoffy part of me really wants a plat WR just because its plat! But Paladium is so much more in my price range….what do you think?

I'm going for Platinum for my wedding ring because my engagement ring is platinum and I would like them to match. Go for what you like the best but also which is affordable too!0

My engagement ring is Palladium and looks exactly like platinum but is much cheaper. Its very strong and not prone to tarnishing. Your budget will obviously play a big part in what you get but it really is a good metal. Congratulations for your future wedding!!

My rings are 18ct white gold. Go for what is in your price range xxxx0

Go for Palladium - it looks almost identical to Platinum
We went for 9ct White gold for my hubby as it is a much brighter white colour than 18ct and also harder and supposedly better wearing..
That was until he lost it on our honeymoon (no kidding!) - men!

Rhardwick...what a shame he lost his ring - men !!! My oh`s ring is also 9ct white gold, mainly as its harder wearing than 18ct. Did he get another ring?

I've got platinum engagement and wedding rings - platinum is harder than gold so they had to be the same metal. Shame! :rolleyes:0

if your E ring is white gold, then having a platinum or palladium W ring, could make the metal on your ER look dull next to it.
i was advised to get WR in the same metal as ER0 -
You definitely need to stick with the same metal and ct as your engagement ring or the harder metal will rub away the softer metal.
ie i have an 18ct engagement ring so need to get an 18ct wedding ring as wellMummy to Thomas born April 27th 2010 8lb 5oz0 -

I was told the same thing, so that both metals wear down at the same rate.Sealed Pot Challenge #021 #8 975.71 #9 £881.44 #10 £961.13 #11 £782.13 #12 £741.83 #13 £2135.22 #14 £895.53 #15 £1240.40 #16 £1805.87 #17 £1820.01 #18 £2021.83 declared0
