  • I have still not received my £100 bonus even though 15 weeks have now passed since i set up the account. I sent them an email 2 days ago but have not had a reply. How many on here have received the bonus so far?
  • I opened the account towards the end of July and received the £100 on 4th November so almost exactly 15 weeks with no prompting from me.

I also got £50 for applying through Quidco which was received before the £100 was paid out.

Oh, and they matched a £2,000 overdraft at 0% for a year so all in all cheers to A&L!

They sent me a standard letter listing the Ts & Cs so I rang to ask which I had not complied with. You have not switched your direct debits using the switching service is what she said to me.

Fact is though, that I did use their switching service and filled in the form to do it and used it. I had no direct debits to switch on my current account though. So I said "But I did use your switching service and they switched them all; even if all of none is none!"

Well your salary is not paid in is what she then said. "I don't recall that being in the Ts & Cs" is what I said to her then. It was not in the conditions of the promotion so I don't see how they can use that as a get out clause either.

She said write in to Bootle Customer Services, so that's what I have done and we'll see where that takes us. They need to remember that they have intelligent customers who can read and follow the rules required.

Fair enough if I mis-read or got something wrong, but unless they have clearly defined something I have not complied with then I want my money and anyone else in this situation should hold them to account and persue it. I'm sure there is a next step after this we can go to if we don't get satisfaction, but I'll await their reply first. I've certainly funded the account adequately so there's no issue there.

Tell me that wasn't what you stated on the official complaint?! You can't be serious!

    From the original T&C's...
"Switch from your existing bank with our Premier Switching Service. We will take care of switching all your standing orders, direct debits and your salary to your new account. We can even close your old bank account and arrange for your balance to be transferred. "
You've switched nothing, and (in my opinion) the FOS, should you take it that far, will agree with A&L.

Of course, all of this could have been avoided if you'd set up 2 or 3 dummy standing orders on the other account (to your savings accounts for example). Something to bear in mind for future offers?

When I signed up for the account, it was obvious to me that I needed to fund the account by at least £500 a month and switch all direct debits & standing orders.
