Lan port not working!

PC on talktalk , BB internet working well on a USB lead from modem to pc.
Now, new router to go wireless has no USB connection. The Lan connection on the rear of pc does not seem to be working.
Gone into device manager no yellow bubbles.
Says 'Network adapter device working properly'.
Is this connection enabled all the time or does it have to be enabled.
Some suggestion would be appreciated please! Thankyou.

Check the properties of your LAN card in Network Connections. Does the relevant port LED on the router light up, when the Ethernet cable is connected?

Do not really know what I will be looking for in Network connections, and no although all the other 3 working lights were up, the light for no1 position did not light up. None of the connection lights were alight.
Many thanks for your help. I will betrying her pc again within the next couple of days.

Network Connections, Highlight the Local Area Network (Ethernet adaptor) Right Click, Properties then Click the Configure button, Is the device Enabled?

Done it. The lan port was off to the side so not connecting properly.
    All up and running now.
    Thanks Espresso.
