Onetel LeisureUK

The following may help if you are a onetel LeisureUk customer.
I've just come off the phone to onetel to ask first; how much notice they require for me to quit the service and second; would they be prepared to sign me up for the December offer of 99p per month (to new customers only) for their LeisureUK service, instead of the £3.99 per month that I'm paying at present.
They told me that they require one month's notice if I wanted to quit and that if I stayed with them, they would sign me up for the 99p deal, permanently!!!! (LeisureUk gives unlimited free weekend and evening calls to UK landlines.)
(I was speaking to Customer Services in India and didn't experience any problems. In fact, the man who dealt with me had almost perfect English.)
My plan now is to stay with onetel, keep BT as my line provider and sign up with
Call1899 for daytime calls. :T

    I am not sure how they can offer you a Tariff Permanently. Suggest you get it in writing. They are now part of Talk Talk who will amalgamate them into their brand over next year.TT dont give much away in the long run they even charge for 1571 basic voicemail! these days.

    I agree with pricefighter that its unlikely to be permanent for the fact that their customers (me included) will be migrated to TT in the future and also they would make a permanent loss at only charging 99p/month and OneTel are already in debt.

    OneTel have promised TT to have so many customers by such a time (i can't remember exact figures) so it could be that OneTel will tell you anything to keep you as customer and/or to gain new customers simply to keep to the deal that OneTel and TT have made.

    I have just switched back to BT for my calls as Onetel made a complete a*** of my bill by offering me the 99p Leisure UK Talk Plan.. When my next bill arrived they were still charging me £3.99 so i called Customer Services in India and explained what had happened, the advisor said there were no notes of me being offered this deal..So like Pricefighter has said, I would also strongly advise you to get this deal in writing.

    Eventually the advisor put me back through to the Retentions Team who put a credit on my account for the £3.00 overcharge...But guess what happened when the next bill arrived the following month, I was still getting charged the £3.99 so I had to phone them back again and go through the same carry on to get the £3 credit.

    I have moved away from Onetel now as there customer service is pants!!! They don't record details of conversations in the account notes and pass you from pillar to post.

    Ok, so you got a good deal for evening and weekend calls...If you have to phone them each month to get the £3 credit then it wont look so attractive as you will be paying to speak to the customer service team on the 0845 number which is going to eat into your £3 per month saving!!!

    Good Luck!!

  • Here at last is the reply I've been waiting for from Onetel and this after 2 calls to the call centre in India and 2 blunt emails (said I was going to shift to another provider);

    I tried to ask how long but it would last but they completely misunderstood my question and I gave up!

    Its worth noting they have already started to increase the tariff charges for Tele 2 customers who they took over at same time as OneTel.
