Providing you have a scart socket on your television you can get one of these.

It should then take priority and switch over so you can watch the tapes.

find the problem, either no signal is coming out, or you are on the wrong channel

I can't be on the wrong channel because when i put my 2003 samsung camcorder through the tv a picture comes on straight away

Anyway gonna try what brian said tonight.

Can you see the picture through the viewfinder of the JVC camcorder?

Has the camera got a switch to change from record to playback? Make sure it's in playback mode.

You don't need to change "channel" on your TV. Just make sure the TV is selected to the AV input that you normally use for the AV lead (red/white/yellow). The colours are red for right audio, white for left and yellow for video signal.

in that case, it's not the input to the tv, it's the output of the camera, so a phone-scart adapter won't cure it. As mutton said, either you aren't in playback mode, or are plugging lead into wrong output, or it's probably bust.

I'm in player mode and i can watch the tape through the viewfinder i don't know if i'm putting the wires in the right places maybe

what is on the other end of the 3 coloured phono plug lead, are you using the lead that came with the camcorder, and what is the socket labelled as

The lead was with the camcorder in the bag so i assume that it is the lead that came with it.

Not sure what you mean about socket do you mean on the camcorder

yes, i would plug the yellow lead into TV, using other camcorder, get the picture, leave TV as is, plug in problematic camcorder, then work from there, then at least you know the TV is ready to go

I see what your getting at i will try that now brb ;)
