smalls room???

hi ladies

anyone heard of a smalls room?? just got a new place and its deco or just after war
it has a small room with a window off the bathroom but no electricity supply
it has a shelved alcove similiar to an airing cupboard approx 31/2' x 4' plus alcove, not an airing cupboard as house has one on landing.

the door is actually next to the bathside.it has a proper window and what look like original wall double hooks

the boiler has been put in here

any ideas what these are, my mum is 80 and she says that its a smalls room?

any ideas what i could use it for? i thought drying room and would have considered study or sewing room but no plug.

cheers

It's a place for drying your smalls instead of having them hanging round the bathroom.

Smalls being the word used for any item of underwear.

Back in those days your "smalls" were something that should never be seen, even when drying. Poor people dried them in the bathroom and rich people had a special room off the bathroom.

Could you use it as a dressing room?

  • You could find out how much it would cost to have a plug socket put in there if you wanted to use it as a study or sewing room

Remeber freecycle if you need any bits and pieces to make your new flat 'home'.

I am impressed that someone has enough knickers to warrant a room.

Unless they're those really big grey ones...

I could make it better myself at home. All I need is a small aubergine...

I moved to Liverpool for a better life.
And goodness, it's turned out to be better and busier!
