hi guys i was due to go to florida for six weeks with my wife and kids at the end of april but its looking more unlikely for different reasons,i believe i loose £120 per person which is two adults and two full paying kids which works out at £480,then we booked car hire with virgin holidays and have been told we will loose £200 which apparantly is the deposit but im not sure where theyve got that figure from as they changed it 3 times on the phone,is there any way i can get more of my money back,i know i will lose something but nearly £700 is silly when they have plenty of time to fill the seats and probably wont even cost them anything in car hire?

They don't think of it like that, they think about the contribution to the profit and dividend for shareholders.
Can you claim on your Travel Insurance?Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
This is exactly what travel insurance is for, unless you are simply disinclined to travel.0

T&C on Virgin website just states "loss of deposit" if cancelling more than 56 days before th holiday start date. Nothing about car hire charges, I'd query that.

As others have said, you may be covered by your holiday insurance, depending on the reason you're cancelling.
Again, depending on your reason, would it not be cheaper to try and change the dates and go another time?Everything will be alright in the end so, if it’s not yet alright, it means it’s not yet the endQuidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur0
