CRC problem with digipics on an iPod

I had some digital photographs on my stored on my iPod, which have gone bleeurgh. I think its something to do with 'CRC'. I used one recovery program on one pic, but it reproduced the remainder of the photograph in purple. Any suggestions on the best recovery program to use?
