Evening All
Apologies for the huge beginner's question
, but what is the best (and cheapest) way to clean a fridge??
I really have to clean mine tonight whilst it's bare. I normally use hot water and bleach. Is the the best way or is there an even better way?
Many, many thanks in advance

Hiya,
The best way will be whatever way your manual says is the best way!
If you can't find your manual most manufacturers these days can replace them for you and many even have downloadable versions. Or you can try:-

Failing that, the most common option I've seen is to use mild slightly soapy water rather than bleach and to rinse well.

:eek:BLEACH:eek:
I use a mild washing up liquid/water solution with a good spoonful of bi-carb in. This is what I used as a kitchen manager so it's what I use at home.0 -
Bi-carb eliminates "nasty niffs". A solution of 4:1 vinegar will also do a good job.0
-
I would avoid bleach, as it may damage the plastic parts of your fridge as well as the rubber door seal.0
-
I would not want to use bleach in my fridge!
Definately go for vinegar, lemon or bicarb0 -

Lol, I know. It seeme dto wok quite well but after following quite a few threads on here I started to think that maybe that wasn't quite right lol
Unfortunately, I don't have any bi-carbonate or vinegar at home, and I really want to clean it tonight. So do you guys think that a bowl of luke warm water and a little washing up liquid should do the trick?
Many thanks0 -

Many thanksOwing to financial constraints, the light at the end of the tunnel has been switched off until further notice.
Illegitimi Non Carborundum!!!:cool:0 -
Thanks for the replies. Reading over your posts, I'm really embarrassed now about using bleach
Although, I don't often clean the fridge so at least I'm not poisoning it too much. Will definitely use washing up liquid tonight, and pick up some bi carb and vinegar next time I'm shopping.
Thank you so much0 -
What I do is:
take everything out, turn off & leave door open
squeeze a juice of a lemon in boiling water (about a pint)
put in a bowl
put in fridge and shut door for 10 mins
let steam work its magic
wipe out
the lemon steam should help any splashes or marks loosen and easier to wipe away
