What have you done to find work? Have you applied to all the retailers for Christmas work?

I cant stress enough how good job agencies can be. I also cant stress enough how much they can mess you around. Take everything they say with a pinch of salt but they're normally very good at getting people into work. Even if its only temporary work its better than nothing.
This is my signature. There are many like it, but this one is mine.

Just looked at asda - nearest asda job is 46 miles away and its a manager job - no good. none at tesco near me - none at netto (theve just finished recruiting) - went on aldi website and have to go into the store :) will do that tomorrow. i think i will get dressed up first thing in the morning and have an outdoor job hunt :).

There arnt many jobs where i live most people i know are being or have been finished, my son has told me ALL of the agency staff at his place are being finished, over 150 of them.

Do remember that a lot of lower-level retail jobs won't be advertised online...Most will be on the window of shops in the high street or in the entrance of supermarkets - and some won't be advertised, you just have to go in with a CV. When I worked retail we got plenty of people just dropping a CV in every day, so never bothered actually advertising the things...

It's much better if you actually go in person to the shop, and ask if they have any jobs going. If they do, give them your CV and ask them to consider you. If they don't, give them your CV, and ask them to consider you in future if anything does come up.

If you bother to turn up in person and ask, they're much more likely to remember you.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Good call, but make sure you do bring a CV with you because it doesn't bode well if they are asking for jobs but were not even prepared with a CV
