If Halifax are true to form I think they`ll cut the 3.8% to 2.8% on the 1st Jan.
On this account they only guarantee the rate to be .80% above BoE base.

Bluebell, you could always leave just a pound in the account to keep it open so as to have somewhere for your fixed rate to return to.

Bluebell - you can leave minimun amount i.e. in the web saver account at 3.8% (which is what i did). Dont close them, as if you open a new one, its less than 2% interest rate. You cab then open a fixed rate but the rate now is less than 3.8% which is not a good idea unless you have got them before the rate came down!?

The problem is I don't want to close this and then open another variable at a later date as there won't be any available at that rate at a later date.

As it is two separate amounts, would it be better to open 2 x 3-month fixed rates for the money and interest?

Sorry ... been poisoning myself treating woodworm the last few days .... just hope the fumes have an equal effect on the little pests!

Where was I? Right ..... don't understand the 'two separate amounts' .. I'm afraid. You're right that closing the Reward account doesn't look a good idea if you still need it. But you appeared to have indicated you needed both the money and the interest?
And closing the account is the only way to provoke the interest payment ahead of the anniversary date. So you either give up the Reward account (if that's where the money is now) .... but just one of the fixed rate accounts would then appear to meet your needs?

Sorry if I'm missing the point ..... I did read your earlier post ... so I don't think it's solely woodworm solvent intoxication!
If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !
  • I am lodging a complaint to fsa (http://www.fsa.gov.uk/pages/Doing/Regulated/Promo/Report/form.shtml)

I have contacted the c/m care team and they refused to say they were wrong or even mislead people!

looks like i am not the only one stung by the conditions they add in step ater step!!!
