MP3 & WMA files

Happy new year! This christmas i had a new car cd player which can play mp3 and WMA files. How do these work? I take it I'll need some kind or rewriter? Can I download my existing cd collection to mp3? I'm uing a i-mac on Mac os9.0.4. Any help will be very much appreciated.

You will need a piece of software to 'rip' your existing CD's to MP3 format files and a CD writer to burn the MP3's onto recordable CD. I'm a Windows user so I can't recommend any specific Mac software or hardware.

Depending upon how much you compress the music, you should be able to fit a few album's worth of music onto one disc. I wouldn't recommend going below 128Kb/s when converting to MP3.

use itunes and import your CDs into MP3 format then burn onto CD

Windows Media Player can rip WMA's and MP3's, it's free and included with Windows!

Once they're ripped just burn the files (But not an Audio CD - they'll get converted). If you have Nero Burning Rom, it'll be an ISO.

Pop it into your player, and you'll be on your way!

Unfortunately, the OP uses a Mac so iTunes looks favourite.

Big thanks everyone, I've just done a google search for itunes- itunes 6 came up ( mac os X) , so i searched again with itunes os9, a site with a itunes 2.0.4 download. All I need now is a writer. Thanks again!!! :T
