Web Merchant in Germany not Pay Pal- anyone know anything???

Hallo! I am setting up a service in Germany that allows customers to make bookings of holiday accommodation via credit card, debit card etc through our web-site (booking over the internet is a new concept in Germany!! :-) Anyway, we were all set to go using Pay Pal, as we we will have a small monthly turnover to begin with, when we were informed by our programmer that all customers using Pay Pal have to sign up to pay pal first before being able to make a transaction. Of course this law is only applicable in Germany! This is obviously a big hindrance for a cusomers to make a booking as it becomes a massive hassle & a turn off.
Can anyone recommend another solution that is not a rip off??? I have heard of World Pay who deal with German customers, and that's it and they are expensive! Our company is a simple partnership registered in Germany.
P:S I am just getting used to all this jargon. I know that Paypal offered the entire package that we needed to allow bookings and including the authorise and capture delay that we need.
Thanks for any advice, Sarah

You'll find Paypal requires you to sign up if you're in the UK as well. It's their way of getting more punters signed up to them. The last trader I bought with online which when I clicked "Pay" took me to Paypal, I cancelled the order. When they asked why, I told them I wanted nothing to do with Paypal and that when I clicked on pay and was taken to their site, it said I had to sign up with them.
Paypal is cheap but beware that there's a lot of people who want nothing to do with them or want to have to sign up just to pay for something someone is offering which is offered elsewhere without the aggro.0 -
I've used moneybookers.com for buying in Germany. Can be a bit long-winded, perhaps, but seems to be widely accepted there, complete with delays.0

But don't PayPal have a one off payment facility
Can't remember who I bought from but was (only?) offered the ability to pay by paypay
I didn't have an account with them, but on the page I was directed to there was an option for one off payment. which I took.
I don't rememeber having to enter much more (if any more) data than a normal credit card transaction.
And as far as I know I still don't have an account with them (certainly no advertising emails etc)
Sorry to be so vague, but may be worth looking into0 -
Yes Paypal does accept direct Credit Card payments online. However there is a catch: It seems to store card details and email addresses and if the same person males another purchase using the same details, Paypal may want them to complete registering for an account. The details of this are as fuzzy as Paypal would like them to be - attract the merchants with "Yes We accept Credit Card Payments" then try to enrol the Customer punters with various conditions.
All a bit unclear but for first time Customers, cards ARE accepted without a Paypal account.0 -

It does indeed, and it has cheaper transaction rates too

Google checkout, to my latest knowledge, has very clear terms about forbidding any travel related services.0

Strictly speaking it relates to package tours, however might be worth a quick email to them to check.0

Did previously, they pointed me to the Ts & Cs and it seemed to cover everything travel and accommodation (that's why I posted to this thread).0
