You're question is a bit vague, you'll have to be a bit more specific if you want any useful advice.
Do you have domains to park?
Does your current host give you POP mailboxes you want to transfer
Do you use any backend services, sql, asp, php?
How much transfer do you use each month?
Etc..0 -
That about £70 which is not bad if it's a website that you either make money from or is for an organisation.
With free hosting you will get adverts, if you don't mind that then yahoo geocities is one you could considerIt's taken me years of experience to get this cynical0 -
Hi,
Thanks for the prompt responses.
I currently have my own domain name which I want to transfer. There is one email address which is linked to the domain - will also need transferring if possible. The website is for personal (family / friends) use only - photos, news etc. and no commercial use whatsoever. Ideally ad free would be great.
Activity is minimal - occassional uploads and visitors are relatively low. Nothing fancy, just plain and simple that is easily used.
The current host has their own web design software included - very basic.
Thanks again!0 -
Try Zymic no adverts unless you use one of there templates http://www.zymic.com/0

Have a look at 3ix, also US based, but at $12 per year [around 7 quid]
http://www.3ix.org/
No web design software, but does have POP mail chucked in
Or another I saw on here
http://vidahost.com/ is UK based, about 20 quid inc VAT, or 25 for 2 years +VAT
I use both, the vidahost is a bit better as any problems they have freephone and are really quick to sort it out
The 3ix is "ticket" type and with time zone lags not instant responses, but then it is only £7Numerus non sum0 -
You could give 000webhost.com a try, a friend was raving (in a good way
) about them the other day. Seems ok;
Free hosting, no adverts, 1500Mb disk space - should be fine for what you say you need.

I'm quite surprised by that since there is no mention of "hit quota" in the T&Cs. How many hits were you getting per month when they cancelled your hosting?
Thanks for the heads up though. I was going to transfer a couple of domains to them, might have to re-think now.0 -
i can't see it in the t&c either but when my site went off i searched thier faq forum and found this:(i didn't get any warning and lost all my work)
To save our server resources and provide the best performance possible, we remove inactive websites from server time by time. If you want to be sure your site will not be removed, website must meet one of these very simple requirements:
1. It must be uploaded and fully functional website. It means no "under construction" pages or default pages like "Welcome to Joomla", "Welcome to Default Wordpress Blog", and similar. Fully functional website uploaded to public_html directory.
OR
2. Website must receive at least 10 visitors per month. It means at least 1 visit every 3 days. It means if you will visit website yourself every 3 days, it will be active.
And even if you will not get 10 visitors per month, you will get warning message and then you still be able to protect it against removal and continue using your account for unlimited time even with no visitors.
That's all. Thank you for your understanding and happy using 000webhost.com services!0
