Camcorder to PC?

Hi, I am trying to get my camcorder to play on my pc! I have put appropriate lead into pc and other end into CC and nothing 
I do not have any disks etc to add, could someone please tell me what I am not doing?

Is it an analogue camcorder?
if it is, are you using a PCI card as the interface between the two?
You can pick them for about £20 from places like https://www.ebuyer.co.uk
If it is digital then you will need a firewire card and lead. Very cheap to buy again from ebuyer.

It is digital KT, and will it tell me what to do with this firewire card? Sorry new to this techie stuff! I have a JVC ..CC aer these thingies compatables to all makes?
