* if this is in the wrong place feel free to move it!
Im due to take my driving test this month, after which I will have £1,250 to spend on a car and tax if needed.
What/Where is the best place to go to for a 2nd hand car. are there any money saving tips that people have?
Due to my business ( dog walker ) im looking for a decent sized car ( think Old style Astra and up ) but with a smaller engine ( insurance ) also needs to be in good nick ( again because of the business, and if funds allow so it can be sign written )
Anyone?

How much have you got for insurance?
Personally I would keep ear to ground and see if any family/friends are selling anything, at least you will get a bit more of an honest assesment (hopefully) of any problems.
Otherwise it's really pot luck at that soert of money, try and take someone along who can give iit the once over.0 -

Insurance is maximum £600 per annum
I have been looking at Suzuki Baleno and Daewoo Nubira0 -

Hi yeah its the same size as the saxo
i wasnt reccomending it, i was just saying that two large dogs could get in the back of it

Do Xsaras come in small engines tho ( insurance and tax purposes )0

Skoda Fabia Estate, enough room in boot for dogs, small engines in both petrol or diesel, low insurance group. I will be looking for one soon to replace my old Golf Estate.0

1.4 is the smallest
dont forget engine size is not the only factor for insurance costs
if a load 1.0 cars get written off for whatever reason, they could cost more to insure than a 1.4 that is not written off0 -
ive just had a look on Autotrader and they are around £600 - £1k..0
