Laser Printer problems

I’ve been given a Hewlett Packard LaserJet 6L printer. The original toner cartridge was empty so after replacing it for £29 I hoped there would be a fast whizzy printer attached to my computer.
Instead of the clear sharp printing expected, it appears as if the printing has been smudged. I’ve googled for help but can’t seem to find any decent website to assist in diagnosing my problem.
I’m loathed to ditch the printer after spending for a new toner cartridge so if any one can help??????

Could also be the drum has worn out and you need a new drum for the printer.0

Personally I think you would have been better off if you'd gone down to Office World and bought a brand new laser printer, I think I paid £45 for mine and that included a toner cartridge.0 -
Sounds as if the toner isn't being fused into the paper correctly.
This can be due to either:
a) faulty fuser unit (e.g. the heater roller isn't hot enough, insufficient pressure or the thermal fuse has kicked in.)
b) incorrect toner
I would check with the previous owner to see if they had similar problems. If the fuser has failed it would be uneconomic to repair.Hug provider for depression thread :grouphug:
