What are the best tyres?

The best tyre for you will depend on what you want from a tyre and what car you drive. You do get what you pay for.
For instance on our cars I place top priority on ultimate cornering grip in the wet. This is because we live in temperate Britain with rain and damp roads. So both our cars are fitted with Goodyear Eagle F1's. The downside is that they wear rapidly, have a high rolling resistance, but are quiet.
On my company car I have Michelins because they last about 30k.
With dry road performance there isn't much to separate the brands compared to vast differences in the wet. On one of my dads runarounds we fitted Debica tyres which were about £100 for 4 from Kwik Fit. And they were lethal in the dry. Even Auto Express did a test with Debicas and found they were the worst by a long margin in wet braking.
CEAT tyres has been mentioned and they use old Pirelli designs. Apart from the Pirelli high performance range I find Pirellis to be below average.
If you want a decent all rounder then go for Continentals or Vredensteins. The man without a signature.0 -
We got Uniroyal ones for the rain. They make a big difference in the wet. I was about £240 for 4 and I drive an Audi A4.0
