    I just got paid 6p to buy a meal deal. Seriously. (It was my 6th one this month so was free but I can't explain why I was given 6p - the receipt says Total to pay -.06 so the checkout guy gave me 6p)

    Could be to do with the VAT changes.

    I'd be really surprised if they closed down. Is your friend regular staff, or someone hired just for the holidays? I could see if they ended up cutting staff (regular ones, too), but I doubt they're in the trouble Woolworths is in. I would imagine the point of adding all those self-serve tills to many stores is so they can cut down on SAs.
