My OH has banked with natwest for over 16 years and i bank with lloyds tsb,so anyway we decided to open a joint account just for the household bills and thought just a basic bank account would do as we did not want any extras ie switch card etc,so of we went to natwest to open one only to be told that opening this type of account would damage OHs credit with the bank
Has anyone else ever heard of this ?
we opened a normal currant account in the end. :money:

It is possible that the banks internal credit scoring views those with basic bank accounts as having a lower base score, so what they have told you is true. You can operate a normal account just as easily. And if you are only using it for transfers and direct debits then cut up any cards and keep the pin number notification unopened.

It won't make any difference to her credit if she has a full facility current account already.0

ignore Natwest and open a current account that pays you a decent interest rate (e.g. A&L, Cahoot, FD).
Also cash in on any introductory offers (check the referral board) and/or cashback via Quidco / TopCashBack.0
