grants on tax credits

anyone know if you can get a grant for home repairs if you are on tax credits. ( it is my own property - mortgaged)
most of the electric sockets in our house have blown and wont work, electrician saying will cost £2000 as saying house needs rewiring as unsafe.
apart from the fact im having to keep moving microwave and kettle etc to the one remaining working socket when i need to use them i just cant afford an electrician, im worried sick about the fire risk etc
im not asking for a freebie just some help!!!!!
