India-Esp Goa threat (is it all hype)

This could be a crock of kack but....
Hi all i know its late but hoping someone with better computer knowledge than me could help.
mum & dad (pensioners)going to goa next week for over a month they have just rang(11.00pm) to say It has officially said it isnt safe to go to goa for european esp brits and u.s tourists. They heard this from another member of family(even older pensioner) who heard it on sky news.
I know this could be mixed up info and typical media blowing wind into old ears but can we have a look around for me to see if there is anything into this.
In a way i dont want them to worry and for them to have a great holiday they need it but another part of me doesnt want them to go and info like this would force them to cancel until safer news or safer areas of the world.
thanks in advance and a badger for your help:beer:

In India you are at more risk of the traffic than you are from terrorism
  • Goa should be fine its the financial capital of Mumbai and New Delhi that are targets for extremists. Just tell them not to worry and enjoy their stay
  • Holiday Truths has a very active Goa forum that you should navigate as many people share their worries.

I would suggest that they are in more danger from hippies falling out of trees, and they should have a great time. I'm very jealous!

You beat me to it ! but...... from a BBC report about Indian road deaths:-

"Every year, more than 90,000 people are killed in road accidents. Such accidents account for nearly 8% of the world's total fatalities."

Oh so scary crossing the roads in India. I was terrified .Everybody just walks out on the road and the traffic just goes round you.

I agree your parents should be okay in this area Away from all problems.

I was in a taxi once and we rounded a bend to see a man fast asleep in the middle of the road. It was in the shade you see.
You can't explain India, you just have to go there and see for yourself...nowhere else like it on the planet.

I'd never been in a traffic accident before I visited India. I'd was then in two serious ones by the time i'd made it to my hotel in Calcutta from the airport.

Our motorised rickshaw in Bangalore ran over a drunk man in the middle of street who fell in front of our wheels, and then scarpered with us in the back before mob rule justice took over.

    Great place India ;)

They have some weird "unspoken" rule where the bigger vehicle takes priority whatever the circumstances....and everybody accepts it with no roadrage. I like that they all have a Hindu God hanging in the front to protect them from accidents :D

Cambodia's another one.....priority is given to vehicles that pull out in front of you.
In a way it's quite good because you can't assume anything and need to be aware at all times. Every man for himself...if you don't want an accident keep your wits about you or tough luck etc..
We have it too easy in England.....people know they have the right of way so get bloodyminded in trying to protect a car length of space, then start shaking their fists if somebody jumps in front.
