Where's best to save £70k safely?

Hi

My dad has just received his inheritance and is asking me how he should invest or save it!!

He's retired and does want to put the cash at too much risk. I'm wondering what's the best way he can invest this money.

He already has an ISA and will continue to contribute to it, so I was going to suggest he just put the money into a couple of savings accounts earning 5-6%

Any thoughts?

Cheers
Mark
