MC015 Message from eBay Loss Prevention Department - now what???

Hi everybody, this has never happened to me before and I just got this message today from ebay regarding an item that I have paid for via auction:
Dear "my username",
We're writing to let you know that the listing for the following item you bid on has been removed:
(The auction item in question followed by the code)
We strongly recommend that you do not complete this purchase. Purchases of items listed on eBay but then completed outside of eBay are extremely risky. They are not covered by eBay buyer protection programs and are highly susceptible to fraud.
The baffling thing is, the user had 40 positive transactions with a 100% record - so there was nothing iffy to suggest it was a scam or whatever.
(However the seller is no longer a registered user)
I have paid already for the items via paypal, so what should I do now? Just cross my fingers - that the items arrive?

Does that mean that you have a email address for the seller? You could contact them and see whats what or ask them to refund you, you should still be covered by PayPal.0

Perhaps the items were removed for being counterfeit and as the seller is naru'd you could open a dispute immediately in the paypal resolution centre stating item removed and seller naru'd and escalate to claim

If you want to give the seller the benefit of the doubt you could wait a while
Reading posts in the ebay AC, I believe that Until recently buyers were only able to state one type of dispute per transaction ie either INR or SNAD, advice then would have been to wait a while before opening a dispute to see if the item did arrive and was satisfactory
Now the policy has apparently changed and you can alter the nature of the dispute so you can log into paypal and open a dispute in the paypal resolution centre, anytime from now until 45 days of completed payment for INR, and should the item arrive and is not to your satisfaction you will be able to change to SNAD0 -
thanks for the advice, I contacted the seller through their email address provided by paypal. He told me ebay had deregistered their account as he had sold an awful lot within a short amount of time - is that possible?
He did say however my item had been sent last thursday 2nd class, so shall wait until the weekend for that.
His paypal email address and full name is totally different to his ebay username/full name/email address. The ebay user has a totally different female name and the person on the paypal is a male. I hope there is no need for concern on that matter.0 -
Have you contacted the person named on the ebay account?
It is possible that their ebay account was hijacked. That happened to me, and the hijacker advertised Ugg boots - then I started getting e-mails from people who had not received the boots - by that time I had contacted ebay and the listings had been cancelled. I had to tell them to contact paypal for a refund.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -

I contacted both the ebay and paypal account - got pretty much the same reponses from both accounts about over selling on their ebay account hence their account was cancelled by ebay - do ebay honestly cancel accounts if people sell way too much in a short span of time?0 -
Perhaps they were registered as a private seller yet obviously selling new goods bought for resale.0

maybe they had unpaying bidder strikes but just didnt wanna say?0

Funnily enough I bought ugg boots form ebay and had exactly the same message after id paid,so I then recieved the item, which was counterfiet, ebay were correct, they were excellent and told me to return the boots, with tracking and then forwrd them the tracking number,as soon as the boots were returned,I was refunded by paypal and the seller is no longer a registered user. I was under the impression you didn't have to return fake items (I think its illegal to send fake items through the postal system!), all you have to do is obtain proof they are fake, either from a high street retailer or Trading Standards.
Have a look on the big Ugg thread on grabbit for genuine places to buy Uggs, NEVER buy them from ebay.0 -
Hi,After taking advice from this site so was I puliptears, however in order for me to get my refund ebay wanted me to send the item back,I questioned the decision and was told no return no refund and I cant afford to loose that kind of money.I know ebay were wrong , but they are pretty often lets face it!!0
