Dvd rewiter Help needed

I have connected the dvd rewriter to the computer inside. I have turned on the computer everythings normal but i dont know how to install it onto the computer so it works.

The draw for the dvd rewriter wont open does this meani have not installed it correctly.

Did you hook it up to power inside the computer?? Do any lights appear on

When i turn the computer on lights start flashing on it

Does it appear as a drive under My Computer (eg D, E or F) etc

If you're using Windows XP, the operating system should detect it automatically so you probably won't need to install any drivers for it.

Try downloading something like DeepBurner Portable (the last link on this page: http://www.deepburner.com/?r=download ) and see if you can burn a DVD.

But before you get there you have to see if it's detected by your BIOS during Power On Self Test check.

Does it appear under the list of drives in your BIOS?
