Book Keeping Help/Advise - New Business

Thanks to many people on this forum and some outside, i have managed to set up my own Limited company. I have some questions that maybe one or few or you would be able to answer for me.

1. Book Keeping Software. Can anyone recommend one. Nothing too complex as it is only the beginning.

2. Book Keeping How To. Anyone direct me to any websites or fact sheets etc. Just after some basic guides as to what is involved etc.

3. Expenses!!!. Working from home therefore not sure what we can and can't claim - is there a list out there? Example - phone, gas etc etc

Once again many thanks peeps...

The main purpose of book-keeping is for the Inland Revenue, with the side effect of calculating if really made a profit!
Our local IR office offers a free 1/2 day coure aimed a new businesses and it covered just the sort of introductory info you need. You also get to meet other locals in the same position. This little course was very valuable.
I suggest you contact your local IR office to ask if they have a course coming up soon.
  • I would strongly advise you have a chat with a reputable accountant. Find one through recomendation. Normally an initial consultation is free of charge. Worth trying to find one that you feel you can get along with! Where abouts in the country are you?
