Natwest - Provisional Limits

I just found out today that I could have got an overdraft of £3800 with Natwest. I already have a £200 o/d with them, but when I was applying to extend it, it told me I could be offered provisionally a £3800 limit with them. I also have a Natwest credit card and a Natwest loan, does anyone know if they are included in an overall limit and the £3800 is what I had left of that limit? How does it all work?

The 3800 may be what you are assessed to have. But you would still have to apply for it if you wanted to have it on the account (ie: you put any number up to 3800 in the box and it will accept).

    Nuns! Nuns! Reverse!

'I do my job, do you do yours?'

  • That's cool. So did you extend it to the £3800 then, or not?

Wonder what mine would be ....after all they offered and gave me a nice 8k loan last week!
  • The loan might have constituted your entire limit with them London, but why not enquire and find out?

    I hope not! Have'nt said that recently I have opened a -

    ISA (last month)
    Savings account (five months old)
standard savings ( eight months ago - not much in)
and this week a 'long term savings account'

and my 'AD GOLD' account with a £800 o/d - use it but never for long...

I only took my o/d to £500. I already have a 4k loan with them and a 1.5k credit card, adding them all up it I could have got myself into a lot of bother.

Where do you see the provisional limits? Don't want to up anything at the mo but I didn't realise that info was available for customers to see!

It appeared when I was applying for the O/D. I put in my personal details and even before I told them how much I wanted it came up with the information.

LOL the box next to the question about how much you wanted to apply for was blank!

Guessing with my debts and existing o/d limit of £1500 they feel I have quite enough in the way of commitments:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Nice to know though - thanks
