Could always see if currys will pricematch richer sounds from £599 to £499 -10%

always worth a try get it for £489
Always worth a try, but good luck with that! I tried to get Currys to price match Richer Sounds for the KDL-32V4000 on Boxing Day, they came out with whole stream of excuses, all of which I disarmed, such as:

    1) Him: "Oh, we don't match internet prices"
Me: "You'll note that it specifically says on the print-out that this offer is only available in-store with Richer Sounds, and not online."

    2) Him: "Oh, it's a different version to what we sell, we sell the 32V4000U and that print-out says just 32V4000"
Me: "Yes, it says 32V4000 down there, but up here it also says 32V4000U"

So in the end he went off to "speak to the manager", and eventually came back to tell me that "Richer Sounds isn't on the list of companies that we will price match with, because of the way they do business".

However I would still try it, because it does very much seem to come down to who you happen to deal with in a lot of shops, and whether they got out the wrong side of the bed that morning. Good luck! :)

Currys price match is just a big scam, when I rang up they just said richer sounds? We've never heard of them. I can't really believe that.

They said if it's that cheap buy it from them... which defeats the point of them having a price match offer really.

See if you can find a Richer Sounds shop with one in stock. They only charge 10% for a 5 year warranty. The store will match the online price if you mention it and I quote from their website "Please note the web price may be cheaper than the price shown in store, so please mention that you've seen this offer online.".

I have been trying to locate one of these from Richer Sounds in Leeds. I was told yesterday that they have none in their warehouse. He was recommending an LG37LY95 as an alternative. Anyone any thoughts?

The Currys/PCWorld chain go to great lengths to avoid paying out on their price match promise:

Take for example an Epson printer. In most stores it is called the SX200, but in Currys/PCworld the same machine suddenly has a new name: the SX205.

Their price promise states that they will only price match an identical model and so they don't price match tesco's SX200 [£39.98] against their own SX205 [£88.07]

As the SX205 is only available in their own stores they can charge a fortune for them and never have to match a competitors price.

PCWorld can go stick it, as far as i'm concerned !
  • I purchased the kdl 40w4000 which is a better tv along with a free rdr hxd890 DVD player with built in freeview and 160 gb hard drive and free 5 year warranty. This was from the Sony centre at trafford centre for £799. Think all Sony centres are doing this deal. Richer sounds price would have come to over £950 I did phone them but prestwich didn't have the tv in stock and they said to pricematch you have to take in a written quote. I'm well happy with the tv the picture is fantastic.

He means he has that in stock, so it makes him a lot more commission than if you buy the Sony from someone else. I would recommend tracking down the Sony, the reason it is hard to get hold of is because it offers such excellent value-for-money.
